About the SRCS Early Learning Academy

Established as an official SRCS school in June 2021, we serve children ages 0–5 with a variety of special education needs. Our school unifies all Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) programming under one umbrella, streamlining services and simplifying processes for families. We offer a continuum of services and placement options designed to meet the diverse needs of our students in a supportive, inclusive environment. All services and placements are determined via the Individual Education Program (IEP) process and are based on the individual child’s needs.

A Brief Summary of Lewis School History

Lewis School has been part of Santa Rosa since at least 1860, originally a one-room schoolhouse near Franklin Avenue. The current building was constructed in 1922, and it joined SRCS in 1947. The elementary school closed in 1975, and the Lewis Adult Center opened in 1976, offering diverse classes from typing and bookkeeping, to amateur radio, parenting, and photography. Around 1987, the Nueva Vista teen parent program began. Over the years, the campus has hosted various programs, including infant and preschool services. In June 2021, Lewis Early Learning Academy became an official SRCS school recognized by the California Department of Education.
